Senior Business News Editor

Semafor is seeking a Senior Business News Editor to join its London office. This role involves collaborating with top-tier reporters to deliver in-depth coverage on critical business and finance topics, including private investing, hedge funds, deals, activism, banking, prediction markets, and private equity. The position is integral to Semafor's mission of providing transparent and insightful journalism to a global audience.

Key responsibilities include editing high-profile scoops, analyses, and stories, leading the production of Semafor's business and finance briefings, and coordinating coverage with colleagues and freelancers across multiple time zones. The editor will also work closely with Semafor's editing team and other verticals within the global newsroom to strategize on story distribution and audience engagement.

Candidates should possess over five years of relevant journalism experience, including roles in newsroom management, leadership, or editing. Expertise in editing business and finance stories with authority and nuance is essential. The role requires a strategic approach to identifying compelling angles across various issues and geographies, as well as the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The base salary for this position ranges from $110,000 to $140,000 annually, depending on individual experience. Semafor offers a Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) policy, allowing full-time, salaried employees to take paid leave as needed without a prescribed limit or defined balance.
