Senior Back End Developer
Monks is seeking a seasoned Senior Back End Developer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing and building the backbone of new products, transforming ambitious visions into scalable, production-ready realities. As a core technical driver, you will collaborate closely with product stakeholders to ensure our infrastructure aligns with our innovative goals.
Your primary responsibilities will include architecting and writing high-quality, maintainable backend code primarily in Python, focusing on scalability from the outset. You will design and implement RESTful APIs with elegant data modeling and secure authentication, leveraging serverless and event-driven architectures to build responsive, modern systems. Managing infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation, and overseeing containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, will be key aspects of your role. Additionally, you will champion a DevOps culture by managing CI/CD pipelines and proactively troubleshooting to optimize system performance across SQL and NoSQL databases.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of professional experience with a strong focus on backend development, demonstrating deep mastery of the Python ecosystem, including frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI. A solid understanding of building for the cloud using event-driven and serverless patterns is essential. Proficiency in both relational databases like PostgreSQL and non-relational databases like MongoDB is required. Familiarity with modern development workflows, including Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, is expected. A proactive attitude, clear communication skills, and the ability to explain complex backend logic to non-technical partners are also crucial.
Monks offers a competitive compensation package, with an hourly rate ranging from $65 to $80 USD. The final offer will be determined based on job-related factors. This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere within the United States.
