Senior Android Engineer, Depot UX
As a Senior Android Engineer on the Depot UX team at Waymo, you will play a pivotal role in developing critical Android applications that enable enterprise partners to efficiently manage and scale autonomous vehicle fleets globally. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the operational backbone of Waymo's autonomous transportation services, directly impacting the company's expansion and success.
In this role, your primary responsibilities will include building and maintaining Android systems essential to Waymo's operations, such as applications used by enterprise partners for fleet management and foundational libraries with scalable UI components and robust architecture. You will tackle complex, real-world challenges by improving task completion for depot operators, simplifying the intricacies of autonomous fleet management, and enhancing application scalability and developer productivity. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, fleet operations, and UX researchers, will be integral to delivering effective solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess a BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience, along with over four years of experience in developing user-facing applications on the Android platform. Proficiency in Kotlin and Java, experience with medium to large-scale Android applications involving multiple developers and designers, and a strong understanding of Android applications and UIs are essential. A passion for building user-centric products, experience collaborating with product designers to achieve pixel-perfect UI implementations, familiarity with Server-Driven UI (SDUI) paradigms, and an openness to learning mobile full-stack development are highly desirable.
