Doctolib is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join the Conversational AI team within the Practice Efficiency domain. This role focuses on developing and scaling the Phone Assistant product, aiming to revolutionize patient access to care and streamline daily practice management for healthcare professionals. The position is based in Berlin, Germany, with a hybrid working model.

The Senior AI Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and operating production-grade agentic Large Language Model (LLM) systems that enhance patient-practitioner interactions and optimize healthcare workflows. Key tasks include validating hypotheses through offline evaluation datasets and A/B testing on real traffic, collaborating with machine learning teams to refine evaluation pipelines and safety measures, and developing core agentic capabilities such as memory, reasoning orchestration, and tool adapters. Additionally, the role involves ensuring system performance, observability, and security, as well as contributing to cross-functional initiatives that shape Doctolib's future AI platform.

Candidates should have over six years of experience as a software engineer, with significant proficiency in Python. A proven track record in managing the full lifecycle of AI products at scale—from initial evaluation and launch to iterative improvements based on production results—is essential. Applicants must demonstrate a strong understanding of software development best practices, including automated testing, continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), and DevOps methodologies. A product-oriented mindset, attention to code quality, and a commitment to mentoring and knowledge sharing are also important. Fluency in English for daily communication is required.
