Sector Analyst, Proprietary Research
As a Sector Analyst for European Equities at Point72, you will join the Market Intelligence team, a proprietary research group dedicated to uncovering insights about companies, industries, and the broader economy. This role involves collaborating with investment professionals and compliance teams to conduct deep fundamental research and apply data science techniques to alternative data sets. Point72 is a leading global alternative investment firm committed to delivering superior returns through diverse investment strategies across various asset classes and geographies.
In this position, your primary responsibilities will include analyzing and interpreting alternative data from multiple sources to develop subject-matter expertise on key themes and key performance indicators (KPIs) that drive the industries and companies within your assigned coverage. You will produce research reports for internal consumption by investment professionals, utilizing various mediums such as written reports, verbal communication, and visualization tools. Additionally, you will interact directly with investment professionals to learn the discretionary investment process and assist in making more informed investment decisions. Collaboration with proprietary research teams, including Data Sourcing, Data Science, Data Engineering, and Compliance, will be essential to source, evaluate, and extract value from new and existing data assets to produce actionable research.
The ideal candidate will possess an undergraduate or advanced degree with demonstrated academic success and have one to five years of prior experience in equity, investment, scientific, or industry research, or consulting, including relevant internships. Proficiency in technical coding and programming, particularly in SQL and Python, is required, along with the ability to participate in a live technical screen. Experience leveraging data analysis as part of the fundamental research process in fields such as business, public policy, finance, engineering, applied sciences, or other quantitative areas is essential. Strong organizational skills, creativity, a robust work ethic, and the ability to operate productively in a team environment are also important. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to the highest ethical standards are mandatory.
