Eurofins Scientific is seeking a Principal Scientist to join our applied biocatalysis team in Cambridge, MA. This role focuses on utilizing enzymatic reactions to prepare chiral intermediates and optimizing reaction conditions to accelerate process development. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with subject matter experts and take full responsibility for research projects within a dynamic and innovative environment.

Key responsibilities include executing enzymatic reactions, isolating pure products, and optimizing these reactions to develop scalable processes. The scientist will also develop assays to evaluate enzyme activity, employ high-throughput experimentation for enzyme plate preparation, and perform enzyme immobilization on resins. Analytical tasks involve conducting chiral analysis using UPLC and GC, as well as product characterization through NMR and MS. Additionally, the role encompasses routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and thorough documentation of all experimental data.

Candidates must possess a PhD in chemistry, biocatalysis, biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline. Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to work effectively in a team environment are essential. The role requires adaptability to changing project priorities and timelines, along with a high level of self-motivation, organization, and attention to detail. While not mandatory, a minimum of two years of laboratory experience in enzyme-catalyzed reactions, enzyme kinetics, protein engineering, or related areas is preferred. Familiarity with analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, KF, NMR, and MS is advantageous.

This full-time position offers a competitive hourly compensation range of $53 to $56, along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
