Python Software Engineer, Commercial Systems

Canonical is seeking a Python Software Engineer to join its Commercial Systems unit, a team dedicated to developing and operating services integral to the company's business operations. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely within the EMEA region, contributing to the automation of SaaS user management and the integration of data sources into Canonical's data mesh.

Key responsibilities include developing engineering solutions using Python, collaborating on technical designs and code reviews, deploying and operating team-developed services, and, depending on seniority, mentoring colleagues and promoting best engineering practices.

Candidates should possess an exceptional academic track record, an undergraduate degree in a technical field or a compelling alternative narrative, proven experience in Python software development, professional proficiency in English, a results-oriented mindset, and the ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks.

Preferred qualifications include experience in performance engineering and security, as well as familiarity with tools such as Airbyte, Ranger, Temporal, or Trino.
