As a Project Manager for Canonical's Devices business, you will coordinate and complete large, complex customer-facing projects, overseeing all aspects of project delivery and acting as the primary liaison between Canonical's engineering teams and customers. This role involves managing the delivery of Ubuntu images on a wide variety of devices, including robots, edge gateways, IoT devices, PCs, and automotive systems. You will build and maintain working relationships with team members, customers, partners, and other Canonical departments.

Key responsibilities include managing projects through their complete life cycle, ensuring that the overall goals for both Canonical and the client are met. You will work with engineering teams on custom board enablement and delivery of Ubuntu images to customers, assist in the development of project statements of work, draft and maintain project-specific schedules, and ensure projects are delivered within time, resource, and scope expectations. Additionally, you will manage project risk mitigation, drive technical issues to reach desired delivery outcomes, and maintain regular communication with clients and internal stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have solid project management experience in delivering engineering services to customers, managing software development teams and field engineers. Extensive experience successfully managing projects with cross-cultural and multi-continent internal and external project resources is preferred. A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math is desirable, along with good knowledge of Linux and the wider Open Source Software community. Excellent communication skills in English, strong leadership and problem-solving abilities, and certifications such as PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 Practitioner are advantageous. The role requires the ability to work non-standard hours to support a worldwide sales and project team and a willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events.

Canonical offers a distributed work environment with twice-yearly team sprints in person, a personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year, annual compensation reviews, recognition rewards, annual holiday leave, maternity and paternity leave, a Team Member Assistance Program and Wellness Platform, opportunities to travel to new locations to meet colleagues, and Priority Pass and travel upgrades for long-haul company events.
