As a Project Engineer Geotechniek & Boringen at BESIX Unitec, you will be an integral part of our Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) department, specializing in advanced infrastructure solutions. BESIX Unitec is renowned for its expertise in cable and pipeline construction, automation, remote control, interconnectivity, and intelligent energy management. Our HDD team executes guided drilling projects for cable and pipeline installations across Belgium, emphasizing craftsmanship, innovation, safety, and quality.
In this role, you will be responsible for collecting, interpreting, and translating soil and subsurface data into design and execution parameters. You will assess how soil composition and groundwater conditions affect drillability, stability, and risks during HDD operations. Additionally, you will develop drilling trajectories, perform bend checks, and conduct risk analyses to support design studies. Monitoring drilling parameters and making timely adjustments to prevent deviations, instability, or damage will also be key aspects of your daily work.
The ideal candidate holds a master's degree, preferably with a specialization in geotechnics, geology, or a related field. Experience with geotechnical studies, underground pipelines, drilling, or infrastructure projects is highly desirable. Affinity with horizontal directional drilling, trenchless techniques, or geomechanics is advantageous. Strong communication skills in Dutch are essential, with proficiency in English or French being a plus. The role requires meticulous work habits, independent planning abilities, and a pragmatic, proactive attitude.
