Product Security Engineer
LaunchDarkly is seeking a Product Security Engineer II to enhance the security of our platform, which serves as critical infrastructure for global systems. As part of a small, high-impact team, you will focus on threat modeling and cloud security posture, collaborating closely with software engineers, product managers, and other security professionals to ensure the safety and resilience of our services.
In this role, you will lead threat modeling engagements for high-risk features and services, develop repeatable security practices, and manage the triage of Cloud Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) findings. Your responsibilities will also include contributing to secure development lifecycle tooling, static and software composition analysis workflows, and bug bounty triage. Additionally, you will partner with product engineering teams to identify and address security issues early in the development process, utilizing AI tools to enhance efficiency and reduce manual toil.
The ideal candidate has 2 to 4 years of experience in a security-focused role, such as application security, product security, or cloud security. You should be comfortable reviewing and critiquing code in modern stacks, possess experience in threat modeling exercises, and have a working knowledge of cloud security posture. Familiarity with security fundamentals like the OWASP Top 10, authentication and authorization patterns, and common cloud misconfigurations is essential. Hands-on experience applying AI tools to security or engineering tasks is also highly valued.
Compensation for this position varies based on geographic location. For Zone 1 (San Francisco/Bay Area, NYC Metropolitan Area, Boston, Seattle), the salary range is $136,000 to $187,000. For Zone 2 (Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago), the range is $122,000 to $168,000. For Zone 3 (all other US locations), the range is $116,000 to $159,000. Additional benefits include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), health, vision, and dental insurance, and mental health support.
