Product Safety Engineer
Graphcore is seeking a Product Safety Engineer to support the safety design, validation, and certification of high-performance server platforms, including systems operating with high-voltage DC power and advanced liquid-cooling architectures. This role involves close collaboration with electrical, mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing teams to ensure products meet applicable safety standards and are prepared for global certification.
Key responsibilities include contributing to safety architecture and compliance for server systems, applying IEC 62368-1 requirements in design reviews, reviewing schematics and mechanical designs to identify potential hazards, supporting hazard-based safety engineering assessments, planning and executing safety validation testing, and working with EMC teams to ensure appropriate grounding and shielding strategies. Additionally, the role involves supporting certification activities with external agencies and evaluating safety aspects of liquid-cooling systems.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, along with experience in product safety, compliance, or a related engineering function. A working knowledge of IEC 62368-1 or comparable product safety standards is essential, as well as an understanding of electrical safety principles, including insulation, grounding, creepage/clearance, and fault protection. The ability to review and interpret engineering designs in the context of safety, experience supporting product certification or working with external test laboratories, and familiarity with safety considerations in liquid-cooled or thermally intensive systems are also desired.
