Procurement Engineer - Civil & Marine
The Procurement Engineer – Civil & Marine at BESIX plays a pivotal role in supporting complex marine and heavy civil projects by ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and technically compliant procurement of materials, equipment, and specialist subcontract packages. This position involves close collaboration with engineering, construction, planning, and commercial teams to maintain project schedules, control costs, and manage procurement risks across works such as jetties, quay walls, breakwaters, dredging, piling, and major infrastructure structures. The role is essential to delivering high-quality, technically demanding marine projects safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities include executing the procurement of marine and infrastructure packages, such as piling systems (steel, precast, CFA, bored piles), steel structures, precast and in-situ concrete elements, dredging works and marine plant, fender systems, bollards, quay accessories, geotextiles, rock armour, revetments, temporary works materials, and specialist subcontract packages. The role also involves preparing RFQs with accurate scope, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and method constraints; coordinating with engineering on design intent and constructability requirements; floating enquiries to approved suppliers and subcontractors; performing techno-commercial evaluations; conducting technical and commercial clarifications; supporting negotiations on pricing, delivery schedules, logistics, and marine constraints; preparing procurement recommendations and award documentation; issuing LOIs, POs, and subcontract agreements; maintaining procurement logs and delivery schedules; and ensuring compliance with BESIX procurement procedures and ethical standards.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and has a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in procurement within the construction industry in the Middle East, with a focus on civil marine projects. Prior experience in Saudi Arabia is highly preferred. Additionally, experience in conducting supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality and safety regulations is essential.
