Principal Software Engineer - AI
Harness is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering Insights (SEI) team. This team focuses on developing products that integrate with over 40 developer tools, such as Jira and GitHub, to process millions of events and transform raw software development lifecycle data into actionable metrics. As a key member of this team, you will directly impact how thousands of developers build software by enhancing our AI-native software delivery platform.
In this role, you will design, develop, deploy, and maintain critical software components within a fast-paced, quality-conscious Java environment. Your responsibilities will include authoring functional specifications and design documents, understanding and owning complex system components, and working in an agile environment with iterative development cycles. You will also be tasked with diagnosing and troubleshooting complex problems in distributed computing environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deploy software and resolve production-related issues.
The ideal candidate will have over 12 years of experience developing highly scalable, distributed applications and backend services using Java. A strong desire to build products that solve complex technical problems for end users is essential. Experience with relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL, as well as familiarity with search frameworks such as Elasticsearch or SOLR, is preferred. Additional experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, and familiarity with Docker and CI/CD processes, will be advantageous. Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, along with experience working in short release cycles, are also important.
Harness offers a competitive salary ranging from $204,000 to $255,000 annually, along with comprehensive healthcare benefits, flexible spending accounts, and an employee assistance program.
