Principal Software Development Engineer in Test
eClinical Solutions is seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join their Research and Development team. This role is based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, and involves leading the design and evolution of automation frameworks and infrastructure. The Principal SDET will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance software quality and reliability. This position reports to the Senior Director of Software Quality Assurance.
Key responsibilities include architecting and implementing AI-assisted workflows, developing scalable enterprise-level test automation frameworks, and migrating existing tests to modern testing platforms. The role also involves automating web-based applications using Playwright with C#/.NET, validating REST APIs, and ensuring database integrity through SQL-based verification. Additionally, the Principal SDET will drive Shift-Left testing practices, design ephemeral test environments, and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
Candidates should have a BS in Computer Science or a related field, with 8–15 years of experience in software development engineering in test (SDET), automation engineering, or quality engineering. Strong programming skills in C#/.NET and object-oriented programming are essential. Experience with Playwright for automation, SQL for database validation, and Docker for containerized environments is required. The ideal candidate will also have expertise in designing enterprise automation frameworks, implementing Shift-Left testing strategies, and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
