In this role, the engineer is responsible for driving decisions and alignment between partners and Canva's engineering teams. This includes evaluating partner proposals, identifying viable solutions, and facilitating decisions with the appropriate Canva teams. The engineer will also set technical direction for Canva's external platform surfaces, ensuring coherence across various interfaces as new capabilities are introduced. Additionally, the role involves grounding partner conversations in executable code, validating proposed solutions against Canva's architecture, and leading technical relationships in strategic partner engagements.
Candidates should possess over 10 years of software engineering experience, particularly in roles that intersect partner engineering, platform engineering, and product development. Experience in building developer platforms with production code used by external developers is essential. The role requires proficiency in navigating product roadmaps, system design discussions, and partner negotiations. A deep understanding of modern AI platform stacks, including MCP, tool-use, and agentic API design, is also necessary. Strong communication skills and the ability to quickly adapt to diverse product stacks are important for success in this position.
