Principal Applied ML Researcher (Agentic Systems & Applied AI Platform)
As a Principal Applied ML Researcher at Trase Systems, you will lead the development and implementation of machine learning strategies for Trase OS, our agentic execution platform designed for regulated environments. This role is pivotal in ensuring that models function effectively within real-world production systems, encompassing agent workflows, tool utilization, and sustained execution. Trase Systems, co-founded in 2023, specializes in simplifying AI adoption for enterprises, delivering end-to-end solutions that optimize AI deployment and management, particularly in complex sectors like healthcare, oil and gas, and national security.
Your primary responsibilities will include driving technical innovations in agentic systems and applied ML infrastructure, defining and evolving the ML and LLM strategy in alignment with product development, and serving as a principal technical authority making high-impact architectural and modeling decisions. You will oversee the entire research-to-production lifecycle, from prototyping key technologies to validating new approaches and ensuring scalable, production-grade systems with measurable impact. Additionally, you will design how LLMs operate within agent workflows, implement and refine prompting strategies, and establish patterns for planning and decision-making within complex systems.
The ideal candidate will possess 12–15+ years of experience in machine learning, including building and deploying applied ML systems in production environments. Strong programming skills in Python are essential, along with deep expertise in at least one major ML domain such as LLMs and generative AI, NLP, or deep learning. Hands-on experience with prompt engineering, multi-agent orchestration, and tool integration via APIs is highly desirable. Proven experience in building and shipping enterprise-grade AI systems, designing and implementing evaluation frameworks, and a strong understanding of ML system behavior in production are also required.
Trase Systems offers a competitive salary range of $230,000 to $300,000, based on experience and skills.
