The Pre-Legal Collections Specialist at EquipmentShare plays a pivotal role in managing accounts that have not responded to standard collection efforts, serving as a bridge between the collections and legal departments. This position is based at the company's corporate headquarters in Columbia, Missouri, and is fully remote. The specialist is responsible for handling accounts that may be candidates for legal escalation, ensuring timely and effective resolution of outstanding balances.

Key responsibilities include communicating with customers regarding accounts receivable and collection matters, resolving disputes related to outstanding balances, conducting risk assessments, coordinating and documenting payment arrangements, and handling a high volume of outgoing collection calls to assigned delinquent accounts. The specialist also manages incoming calls from customers and internal branches, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with internal teams, monitors and reports on key performance metrics, provides training and coaching to collectors on strategies for "hard-to-collect" accounts, and collaborates with legal and collections teams to support pre-litigation account review and escalation processes.

Candidates should have at least five years of experience in collections, with a preference for experience in pre-legal or pre-judgment collections. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with an Associate Degree in accounting or a related field preferred. Proficiency in MS Office and/or GSuite tools, including strong Excel and Google Sheets skills, is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to navigate multiple systems and technologies efficiently, and a proactive work ethic are also important.

Compensation for this role ranges from $29 to $34 per hour, depending on factors such as past experience and location. Benefits include full medical, dental, and vision coverage for full-time employees, generous paid time off plus company-paid holidays, a 401(k) plan with company match, a gym membership stipend, wellness programs, company events, and 16 hours of paid volunteer time per year.
