Polymer Chemist | EAG Laboratories
EAG Laboratories, a division of Eurofins Scientific, is seeking a Polymer Chemist to join our team in Maryland Heights, Missouri. This role involves conducting chemical testing on industrial and consumer products, specializing in investigative analytical chemistry. Our laboratory focuses on evaluating label claims, reverse engineering pharmaceuticals and nutritional supplements, identifying contaminants, and analyzing extractables and leachables in consumer electronics and medical devices.
The Polymer Chemist will be responsible for non-routine problem-solving tasks, including failure analysis in molded parts, delamination of films, adhesives, and coatings, as well as addressing processing and curing issues, chemical compatibility, blisters, and surface defects. The role involves evaluating various polymeric materials such as raw materials in polymer formulations, adhesives, coatings, and molded, extruded, and cast components.
Key responsibilities include applying standard and non-standard techniques to determine the composition, properties, and structure of materials, performing sample preparation, recording and analyzing test data, maintaining scientific records, preparing analytical reports for customers, and handling customer materials and company equipment responsibly. Compliance with ISO 27001 standards and company information security requirements is expected.
Candidates should possess a BS or MS degree in Chemistry with an emphasis in Polymer Chemistry and have at least one year of industrial or analytical testing lab experience. Experience operating instruments such as DSC, TGA, or GPC is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Strong professional, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.
