Payroll Risk & Compliance Expert - Africa
Remote is seeking a Payroll Risk & Compliance Expert to oversee payroll compliance across the African region. This role involves deep expertise in local legislation, translating complex rules into scalable processes, and ensuring Remote's global payroll platform meets regulatory standards. The position requires collaboration with various teams, including Product, Engineering, Design, Operations, and Legal, to embed compliance into the company's operations.
Key responsibilities include owning payroll compliance for assigned jurisdictions, translating statutory rules into structured requirements for product and engineering teams, leading complex audits and compliance programs, and designing scalable processes and governance frameworks. The role also involves building training materials, delivering learning sessions, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance is embedded into decision-making.
Candidates should have deep expertise in payroll and employment compliance for their country or region, a proven record in leading audits and compliance programs, experience partnering with technical teams to convert statutory rules into product requirements, and strong communication skills to influence stakeholders across various departments. Additional qualifications include the ability to operate in a fast-changing, fully remote environment and a systems-thinking approach to designing scalable processes and controls.
The annual salary range for this full-time position is $62,400 - $140,400 USD.
