Paralegal
Turklay Law, PLLC, a two-attorney litigation boutique in Tennessee specializing in criminal and family matters, is seeking an on-site Paralegal to support their growing team. As a Paralegal at Turklay Law, you will be responsible for drafting motions, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence, ensuring they are filing-ready with minimal revision. You will manage deadline and court calendars, schedule hearings, depositions, client meetings, and appearances, and maintain complete, audit-ready files. Additionally, you will organize and analyze discovery materials into attorney-ready work products, conduct targeted legal research, prepare exhibits, witness lists, subpoenas, and build trial binders to ensure courtroom materials are ready. Effective communication with clients, witnesses, experts, and court staff is essential, as is managing logistics and updates. You will also handle payments and collections, set up and manage payment plans, track balances, follow up on past-due accounts, and maintain records. Office operations include receiving mail and deliveries, accepting in-person payments, coordinating vendors, and assisting in creating standard operating procedures and performance evaluation processes as the firm grows.
The ideal candidate will have 2–3+ years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in criminal and family law, and be comfortable in a small-firm environment handling both paralegal and office operations duties. Proficiency in drafting motions, briefs, and pleadings that are filing-ready with minimal revision is required. Experience in organizing and analyzing discovery materials into attorney-ready work products, conducting targeted legal research, and preparing trial materials is essential. Strong communication skills, initiative, and reliability are crucial, as is the ability to manage deadlines and court calendars effectively. Familiarity with Tennessee e-filing and local procedures is preferred, or the ability to learn quickly with minimal oversight.
