Operations Specialist - Driver - Ann Arbor, MI
Bird, a global leader in micromobility, is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Operations Specialist to join their team in Ann Arbor, MI. This role involves supporting operations and logistics through fleet deployment and related tasks. The position is part-time, with flexibility in rotating shifts between 6 am and 8 pm. Compensation is set at $18 per hour. The work location is 345 Metty Drive, Suite 1, Ann Arbor, MI 48103.
Key responsibilities include safely loading, unloading, driving, and operating a company vehicle following mobile app-guided destinations. The role also involves supporting operations and logistics with fleet deployment in vans, staging in the warehouse, and collection of scooters from the field. Additionally, the specialist will relocate scooters from low to high-demand areas, perform regular quality and performance checks on scooters and company vehicles, conduct basic scooter diagnostics, and ensure all docked and warehoused vehicles are charging according to safety procedures. Collaboration with team members to accomplish shift goals and participation in quality assurance and testing for new product and feature releases are also part of the role.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license and a minimum of two years of driving experience. Comfort with operating a smartphone while multitasking in a fast-paced environment is essential. The ability to lift 80-90 lbs. (with or without accommodation) is required. Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, along with proficiency in English, are necessary. Highly desired qualifications include the ability to work multiple shifts, including weekends, a proactive and communicative orientation, familiarity with local streets and neighborhoods, and previous related experience such as delivery, rideshare, or warehouse inventory work.
