Operations Lead - Perception Data Labeling
Zoox is seeking an experienced operations leader to join its Perception Data and Labeling team. This team is responsible for providing the training and evaluation data that powers Zoox's perception machine learning models, including those for vision, lidar, and other modalities. The Operations Lead will collaborate with machine learning engineers, product owners, data engineers, and external partners to deliver high-quality data essential for meeting critical project deadlines.
In this role, the Operations Lead will translate company-wide feature requirements into concrete and comprehensive data deliverables. They will work closely with AI teams, project management, and data annotation teams to manage the collection and labeling of training and evaluation data for Zoox's AI perception stack. Additionally, the role involves managing vendor allocation and budgeting in alignment with Zoox's milestone and release timelines, as well as defining and maintaining clear tracking of outcomes, risks, and data quality to ensure transparency and accountability.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience in technical program management or operations strategy, particularly within the technology, autonomous driving, or AI/ML sectors. A strong understanding of the machine learning development lifecycle and familiarity with autonomous vehicle sensor modalities such as LiDAR, Radar, Camera, and Thermal, along with their respective data annotation requirements, is essential. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to translate high-level product roadmaps into detailed operational execution plans, manage resource allocation for large-scale workflows, oversee vendor operations to meet quality and volume targets, and possess proficiency in SQL or Python/Pandas for data analysis and reporting.
The base salary for this position ranges from $163,000 to $223,000 annually. Compensation also includes Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, with the possibility of a sign-on bonus.
