Observability Engineering Manager
Canonical is seeking an Observability Engineering Manager to lead the development of distributed tracing and service mesh products within our Observability group. This role is integral to our mission of delivering a comprehensive suite of open-source tools that encompass metrics, logging, telemetry, alerting, tracing, and profiling. As a leader in open-source software and the publisher of Ubuntu, Canonical offers a dynamic environment for innovation and collaboration.
The Observability Engineering Manager will oversee a distributed team of engineers, guiding the development and integration of observability solutions that are easy to deploy and operate on Kubernetes. Responsibilities include organizing and leading team processes, conducting one-on-one meetings, identifying and measuring team health indicators, engaging with the open-source community, reviewing code, and representing Canonical at conferences.
Candidates should possess an exceptional academic background, a proven track record in software delivery, and professional experience in software development, preferably with open-source contributions. Proficiency in Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred), excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a productive team environment are essential. Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events is also required.
