Arista Networks is seeking a talented and motivated Network Automation Engineer to develop automated test suites for our large-scale, solution-based topologies. This role is integral to our development and test teams, focusing on the timely qualification of our Arista EOS network operating system. The position demands strong Python programming skills and a solid foundation in network engineering principles.

Key responsibilities include contributing to the design and implementation of our network automation infrastructure, specifically focusing on the development of device classes and automated test cases. The engineer will develop abstracted methods for provisioning and monitoring network devices, create extensible and easily maintainable automated test cases leveraging our abstracted device class methods, and integrate these automated test cases into our CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid and continuous testing. Additionally, the role involves monitoring test execution, analyzing results, performing root cause analysis of failures, and creating detailed bug reports as needed. Collaboration with development and test teams is essential to ensure comprehensive test coverage and timely issue resolution.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience with the Python programming language. A strong grasp of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and design patterns, including abstraction, encapsulation, inheritance, and composition, is required. Proven experience with automated testing methodologies and frameworks relevant to network automation is essential. The candidate should have experience provisioning and monitoring network devices using various APIs (e.g., REST, Ansible, OpenConfig, gNMI) and a solid understanding of core networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, VLANs, VXLAN, EVPN). Experience utilizing traffic generation tools (e.g., Ixia, Spirent) for testing purposes, a proficient understanding of the Linux operating system, and experience with Git version control are also necessary. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) is a plus. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, along with strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills, are essential.
