Divergent is seeking a Metrology Engineer to join their team in Torrance, California. The company has developed the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS), an end-to-end factory system that leverages machine learning to engineer, additively manufacture, and assemble complex vehicle structures and subsystems. As a qualified Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs, Divergent is expanding into the Aerospace and Defense sectors. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to transformative manufacturing processes in a dynamic environment.

The Metrology Engineer will be responsible for developing, editing, and maintaining inspection programs and templates across various platforms, including PC-DMIS, ZEISS Inspect, and PolyWorks, for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), portable arms, and GOM/ATOS optical systems. The role involves performing dimensional inspections to verify parts against CAD and engineering requirements, interpreting engineering documentation such as 2D drawings and 3D models, and supporting the preparation of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs). Additionally, the engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet quality and delivery targets, guide technicians on program execution, and maintain standard program libraries to enhance metrology capabilities.

Candidates should have demonstrated experience with 2D and 3D inspections using CMMs, preferably utilizing PCDMS, Hexagon, and GOM-ATOS inspection software applications. A working knowledge of inspection and documentation procedures, the ability to interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and engineering drawings, and strong attention to detail are essential. Experience in aerospace manufacturing and the ability to work effectively with diverse team members are also required. Preferred qualifications include machining shop experience and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical field.

The compensation for this role varies based on the level of the position, with pay ranges as follows:

- Specialist / S04: $46.00 - $63.00 per hour

- Senior Specialist / S05: $110,160.00 - $151,470.00 annually

Divergent offers a comprehensive compensation package, including a competitive salary, equity plan, and discretionary results-based incentive bonuses. Employees also receive paid vacation, sick time, company holidays, and paid parental leave. The company provides a dynamic manufacturing setting where team members can engage with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to innovative production systems.
