Mechanical - Entry Level (Summer 2026)
CannonDesign is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer for the Summer 2026 term in Arlington, Virginia. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work under the guidance of a licensed engineer on projects that include new construction and renovations in educational, healthcare, corporate commercial, and science and technology sectors.
In this role, you will assist in designing HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, controls, and equipment selection. You will also prepare building load calculations and energy models using modeling software, and assist in Revit/BIM modeling of construction drawings for HVAC systems. Additional responsibilities may include coordinating with specifications, writing draft reports, reviewing submittals and shop drawings, and performing job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
Candidates should have a Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with knowledge in heat transfer, solar energy, and fluid dynamics. Related student internship experience is preferred, along with EIT or LEED accreditation. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are essential, as well as proficiency in engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus.
The salary range for this position is $40,000 to $63,000 annually.
