Graphcore is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Austin, Texas, focusing on the design and development of advanced AI data center hardware. As a leader in Artificial Intelligence computing systems, Graphcore designs semiconductors and data center hardware that drive AI innovation and efficiency. This role is integral to ensuring our products meet all technical mechanical specifications and function optimally within complex AI infrastructures.

In this position, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, modifying, and evaluating mechanical designs for AI data center hardware. Key responsibilities include collaborating with Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) vendors to manage product mechanical specifications, development schedules, and deliverables. You will also guide ODM vendors through design implementation, monitor testing processes, review costs, and provide clear technical direction to ensure products meet specifications, cost targets, and quality standards. Additionally, you will work with third-party vendors and suppliers to achieve desired product features.

The ideal candidate will have 2 to 5 years of experience using PTC Creo as a design tool and possess the ability to drive mechanical design aspects, including PCB design, cable modeling, thermal solutions, and electro-mechanical packaging. Experience working with thermal engineers to develop high-density, high-power liquid cooling solutions is essential, along with a strong awareness of thermal management challenges. Proficiency in designing sheet metal, cast, and plastic injection parts is required. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary, as well as the ability to perform root-cause analysis, tolerance analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and problem-solving. Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) analysis is also important.
