Manager of Gene Synthesis & Plasmid Manufacturing
Eurofins Genomics Blue Heron, a pioneer in the gene synthesis industry since 1999, is seeking a Manufacturing Manager to lead daily operations at its Louisville, Kentucky facility. This role involves overseeing the GeneMaker® platform, which includes gene synthesis, plasmid DNA, and IVTmRNA production. The Manufacturing Manager will report directly to the President of Blue Heron Biotech and play a critical role in maintaining high-quality standards and operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities include directing and coordinating daily manufacturing activities, planning production schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The role also involves recruiting, training, and developing staff, as well as managing vendor relationships and overseeing the procurement of production materials. Additionally, the Manufacturing Manager will implement process controls and validations to monitor manufacturing stability and ensure compliance with ISO 13485:2016 standards.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree or higher in a related scientific discipline, with a preference for an MS or PhD in Molecular Biology. A minimum of six years of direct manufacturing and operations experience, including at least three years in a managerial role, is required. Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Experience with manufacturing scale-up, ISO or GMP certification processes, and lean six sigma methodologies is advantageous.
