Manager, Indirect Tax
Canva is seeking a highly motivated and experienced US Sales & Use Tax Manager to join our dynamic Tax team. This role is pivotal in managing the day-to-day indirect tax operations within the United States, ensuring compliance, transparency, and accuracy as Canva continues its rapid expansion. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the scale and complexity of our growing company.
Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with all US indirect tax obligations, such as sales and use, gross receipts, commercial activity, and business personal property taxes. The role involves delivering global accounting and reporting of indirect taxes for financial statements, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet reporting deadlines, and establishing internal controls to support audit and public company readiness. Additionally, the manager will oversee state and local indirect tax audits, monitor tax law developments, and develop content to improve customer and internal stakeholder experiences.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams to drive critical projects to completion. A keen eye for detail, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and proven experience in US sales and use tax compliance are essential. The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and proficiency in financial software and tax tools are also required. Experience implementing AI into daily workflows and a continuous learning mindset are highly valued.
