MAAS Systems Engineer - Python (Toronto area)
Canonical is seeking a MAAS Systems Engineer to enhance data center operational efficiency through the development and management of Metal as a Service (MAAS) software. This role is based in Toronto, Canada, and involves on-site work at Canonical's lab, which is integral to Ubuntu server certification for U.S.-based silicon and server designs. The primary responsibilities include developing and expanding MAAS functionality using Python to support a diverse range of server and network hardware. The engineer will integrate MAAS with testing and scheduling tools like Testflinger, contribute to its improvement, and remotely operate a fully automated server lab. Additionally, the role involves enhancing hardware and network monitoring through automation and collaborating with various teams to ensure the lab's availability and performance.
Candidates should possess a STEM Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering, along with experience in Python programming and Linux administration. A curiosity to diagnose and resolve system issues, effective communication skills in English, and the ability to work with a globally distributed team are essential. An exceptional academic track record and a willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events are also required.
