Litigation Associate Attorney
Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien, Doherty & Kelly, P.C. is seeking experienced Litigation Associate Attorneys to join our Manhattan, New York office. Founded in 1986, our firm specializes in insurance defense litigation, representing clients in areas such as professional liability, labor and employment, medical malpractice, casualty, construction defect, and coverage. With offices across the Mid-Atlantic region, we offer a collaborative environment where attorneys can broaden their professional experience and receive mentorship from seasoned partners.
In this role, you will represent clients throughout all phases of litigation, from initiation to expert discovery, in matters involving professional liability and labor and employment law. Responsibilities include attending court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences; conducting complex legal research and discovery investigations; drafting various legal documents such as discovery requests, motions, and settlement agreements; reviewing discovery responses and preparing litigation update reports; negotiating settlements with opposing counsel; and providing clients with legal analysis and status reports throughout the litigation process.
Candidates must be barred in New York and possess litigation experience. A strong preference is given to those with a background in general liability or labor and employment law. Essential qualifications include experience drafting discovery, leading depositions, and arguing motions. Excellent writing and organizational skills are required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Lexis software. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment is crucial.
