Arista Networks is seeking a Linux Kernel Senior/Lead Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining the Linux kernel within our Extensible Operating System (EOS), ensuring our products remain at the forefront of networking technology. Collaborating closely with hardware engineers and the broader Linux community, you will contribute to the continuous evolution of our networking solutions.

Your primary responsibilities will include tracking developments in the Linux kernel, integrating new versions into EOS, and designing and implementing kernel features tailored to our products. You will also work with hardware engineers and vendors to qualify new kernel-dependent hardware components like CPUs and NICs for integration into Arista products. Additionally, you will provide technical leadership across features, projects, and tools, and mentor new and junior engineers to bring them up to speed in Arista’s software development environment.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, along with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in C programming is essential, with additional knowledge of C++ and Python being advantageous. A deep understanding of Linux kernel architecture, design, and implementation is required, as well as familiarity with the upstream Linux community’s patching process and procedures. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and excellent communication abilities are also essential.

Arista Networks offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $140,000 to $210,000, depending on experience and location. Employees are also eligible for discretionary bonuses and equity, as well as comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings, and income protection plans.
