Lending Closer - Real Estate Finance
The Real Estate Lending Closer is an integral member of the lending team at Public Storage, responsible for coordinating commercial real estate loan closings within the company's real estate division. This role involves managing the entire deal closing process, from collecting due diligence to preparing internal closing certification memos. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Lending.
Key responsibilities include preparing and tracking closing checklists, conducting closing calls with internal staff, borrowers, and attorneys, ordering due diligence reports, and collecting and filing transactional documents. The Closer collaborates with borrowers, in-house, and outside legal counsel to resolve issues, reviews settlement statements, prepares internal closing certification memos for approval, and works with the accounting team to reconcile any post-closing escrow issues. Additionally, the role involves onboarding closed loans with the loan servicer and providing exceptional customer service to internal staff and borrowers.
The ideal candidate will have an associate degree in paralegal studies or a similar field, with a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or real estate preferred. A minimum of three years of experience as a closer is required, along with solid knowledge of commercial real estate loan closing processes and documents. Excellent collaboration, verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and superb organizational, time management, and multitasking skills are essential. The candidate should be energetic, organized, creative, and highly motivated, with the ability to learn and work independently and collaboratively. A strong work ethic and the ability to support multiple deals in parallel while prioritizing competing demands under time-sensitive deadlines are also important. Compensation for this position ranges from $33.50 to $44.25 per hour, depending on factors such as qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is part of a total rewards approach to compensation, which may include additional discretionary bonuses or incentives.
