The Legal, Privacy & Risk Internship at MEMIC offers an immersive experience into the intersection of law, privacy, and risk management within the insurance industry. As an intern, you'll collaborate closely with the Director of Legal, Privacy & Risk, gaining hands-on exposure to various facets of corporate governance and compliance. In this position, your primary responsibilities will include reviewing contracts to ensure compliance with data privacy laws and regulations, assisting in legal matters such as incident response and privacy-related inquiries, conducting legal research, and supporting the Record Retention initiative. You'll also help with regulatory and compliance documentation, vendor management, and other legal and regulatory tasks as needed. This role provides a comprehensive understanding of legal operations and enterprise risk management within a corporate setting.
To be considered for this internship, candidates should be pursuing an associate degree or higher, with a preference for 1L or 2L law students. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a keen interest in legal, privacy, or risk-related work are essential. The ability to work independently and communicate effectively is also important. This opportunity is well-suited for individuals eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical, real-world environment.
The internship offers a competitive compensation of $22 per hour, with a work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, including a one-hour lunch break, totaling 37.5 hours per week.
