Legal Education Manager
The Legal Education Manager at Clifford Chance Amsterdam plays a pivotal role in overseeing the firm's comprehensive training and professional development programs for its legal staff. This position bridges the gap between legal practice and education, ensuring that attorneys receive the necessary training to excel in their roles. Clifford Chance is a leading international law firm known for its commitment to excellence and innovation in legal services.
In this role, the manager is responsible for coordinating the mandatory practical training cycle for trainee lawyers, maintaining and expanding a network of external attorneys for process assignments, and ensuring compliance with the requirements set by the Amsterdam Bar Association and the Law Firm School. Additionally, the manager facilitates semi-annual evaluations, assigns mentor attorneys, and organizes internal courses to prepare for professional training and examinations. For associates and partners, the manager organizes and records the entire Continuing Professional Education (CPE) offering, including internal courses, external webinars, and client seminars, in collaboration with the Global Service Delivery team in Delhi. The role also involves facilitating annual peer review sessions, GIO meetings, mentor courses, and WWFT training, providing content input, guiding group discussions, and offering individual feedback. Furthermore, the manager oversees the CCV cycle, keeps the Quality Manual up to date, and serves as the central point of contact for all Bar Association obligations, proactively initiating process improvements such as digital registration solutions and automated reports.
Candidates should possess a completed Master's degree in Dutch law and have experience as an attorney, preferably in commercial law. A deep understanding of the professional training process, Bar Association requirements, and the daily realities of law firm life is essential. Knowledge of compliance frameworks, including CPE obligations, CCV processes, and the regulations of the NOvA and the Amsterdam Bar Association, is crucial. Strong organizational skills are necessary to manage multiple cycles and deadlines simultaneously, with attention to detail and the ability to maintain oversight under pressure. Effective communication skills are vital for interacting with partners, trainees, the Bar Association, and external training partners, requiring clarity, proactivity, and the ability to engage others. A proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation is also important, with the ability to identify, analyze, and propose solutions independently.
