Legal Counsel (Bengaluru)
OpenFX is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its Bengaluru office, playing a pivotal role in supporting the company's expansion in India and contributing to its global operations. OpenFX is revolutionizing cross-border money movement by integrating traditional banking systems with digital-native infrastructure, utilizing stablecoins for near-instant foreign exchange conversion and settlement. In less than two years, the company has raised over $100 million in capital and achieved an annualized volume exceeding $40 billion, with a presence across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
The Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support in three key areas: facilitating OpenFX's market entry and ongoing operations in India, offering general legal assistance for the Bengaluru office, and collaborating with global legal teams on various international matters. This includes advising on regulatory frameworks such as RBI regulations, FEMA, and data protection laws, as well as drafting and negotiating commercial agreements with clients and partners. The role also involves supporting corporate governance, employment matters, and vendor agreements for the Indian entity.
Candidates should possess an LLB or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution and be qualified to practice law in India. A minimum of 7 years of legal experience is required, with a strong background in financial services, fintech, or related sectors. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Indian regulatory frameworks, including RBI regulations, FEMA, and data protection laws, and demonstrate the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice. Experience working collaboratively with product, engineering, compliance, and business teams is essential.
