Legal & Contracts Compliance Specialist
Planet Labs is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal & Contracts Compliance Specialist to join its in-house legal team. This full-time, hybrid position is based in Arlington, VA, requiring three days per week in the office. The role reports directly to the Associate General Counsel and focuses on ensuring the company's contractual obligations are met and performance issues are addressed promptly.
The primary responsibilities include serving as the internal communication hub for performance issues related to key accounts, ensuring customer commitments are clearly understood, documented, and delivered on time. The specialist will collaborate with Sales and Proposals teams during the pre-award phase to understand customer requirements and identify potential issues that may impact future performance. Post-contractual activities involve maintaining detailed records of requirements across multiple complex agreements with domestic and international customers, coordinating with Subcontracts and Procurement teams, and developing DACI/RACI matrices to clarify responsibilities. Additionally, the role involves partnering with Program Managers, Technical Support, and Customer Success Managers to ensure effective communication regarding customer concerns, preparing for scheduled customer meetings and reports, and identifying and addressing potential performance issues. The specialist will also liaise with finance and accounting for issues related to payment obligations or delays, summarize contract performance to senior leadership, support legal research projects, and implement automated processes to enhance efficiencies.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and have at least four years of relevant experience. Strong collaboration skills are essential for motivating cross-functional teams to achieve goals. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills are required to effectively communicate with management, team members, stakeholders, and vendors. The ability to identify issues and develop creative and effective solutions is crucial. Experience with project management software, contract management software, and proficiency in Google and Microsoft Office Suites are necessary. Proficient organizational skills to manage tasks, priorities, and multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines are also important.
