Lead Robotic Technician
The Lead Robotic Technician at Divergent plays a pivotal role in overseeing the operation and continuous improvement of multiple automated manufacturing cells, including robotic assembly, anodize automation, and scan box inspection. This position ensures stable daily operations, maintains equipment health, supports material flow, and drives production efficiency, quality, and safety on the shop floor. Divergent is a technology company that has developed the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS), an end-to-end factory system utilizing machine learning to engineer, manufacture, and assemble complex vehicle structures and subsystems.
Key responsibilities include operating and monitoring daily production across various automated cells to meet throughput, uptime, and quality targets. The technician will perform part preparation activities such as masking, cleaning, and light mechanical assembly, as well as support digital assemblies and validation steps using appropriate software and tools. Additionally, the role involves performing routine operational maintenance to prevent downtime, diagnosing and resolving robotic, mechanical, and electrical issues, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of experience operating industrial robots such as Kuka, ABB, FANUC, or Yaskawa. A strong understanding of industrial robot operation and equipment troubleshooting is essential, along with experience in automotive or aerospace assembly processes. Mechanical and electrical assembly skills, the ability to diagnose and solve equipment problems, and strong communication and teamwork abilities are also required. The role demands the capability to work independently, take ownership of production responsibilities, and the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely climb ladders.
