Lead of Applied AI
Peregrine Technologies is seeking a Lead of Applied AI to spearhead the integration of artificial intelligence into their end-to-end intelligence platform. This role involves transforming complex data into reliable, explainable, and impactful capabilities that enhance decision-making in critical environments. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing AI-powered features that assist customers in identifying risks, uncovering insights, and making swift, informed decisions.
Key responsibilities include leading the design and deployment of customer-facing AI features, translating operational challenges into deployable AI solutions, and collaborating closely with Product, Deployment Strategists, and Engineering teams to embed AI into core workflows. The role also encompasses overseeing fine-tuning strategies and reinforcement learning to enhance decision quality, making informed choices between classical machine learning, deep learning, and large language model approaches based on accuracy, latency, and risk considerations.
The Lead of Applied AI will shape Peregrine’s AI infrastructure by managing training and inference pipelines, model serving, versioning, and integration with real-time and batch data systems. Ensuring that models are observable, scalable, secure, and cost-effective in production, while meeting enterprise and government requirements, is paramount. Additionally, the role involves defining and operating robust evaluation frameworks, establishing quality standards that reflect real-world decision impacts, and overseeing monitoring, drift detection, and failure analysis for deployed models.
Candidates should have demonstrated experience in deploying AI-powered features into production, particularly in enterprise or mission-critical settings, hands-on experience with model fine-tuning and reinforcement learning, and expertise in designing and operating AI/ML infrastructure. Strong software engineering fundamentals and direct ownership of model evaluation and quality measurement are essential. Experience with large-scale or real-time data platforms, a background in domains where trust and reliability are critical, and prior leadership of software engineering teams are highly desirable.
Peregrine Technologies offers a competitive salary range of $225,000 to $320,000 annually, along with benefits, equity options, and potential bonuses.
