Octopus Australia is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to enhance its electrical engineering capabilities across utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects. This role offers the opportunity to shape electrical engineering standards within a leading renewable energy developer and implement best practices across a portfolio of major Australian renewable energy projects. The position is available in Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane.
The Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for managing the electrical scope of projects, including generation and storage equipment (solar PV, wind turbines, BESS) through to grid connection. This encompasses overseeing pre-acquisition due diligence, design, procurement, financial close, construction, commissioning, and operations phases. The role also involves providing technical leadership, mentoring colleagues, and continuously improving electrical engineering standards and governance processes.
Candidates should have 7-10 years of electrical engineering experience in Australian utility-scale renewable energy projects, particularly in wind, solar PV, and/or battery energy storage systems. Experience with hybrid solar/BESS projects is highly regarded. A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required. Chartered status or progress towards registration is advantageous but not mandatory. Eligibility to work in Australia is essential.
