Lead Data Engineer
The Lead Data Engineer at WPP Media is a senior technical leadership role within Choreograph's Australia-based team, responsible for driving the strategic development of cloud engineering capabilities and building data infrastructure that delivers measurable outcomes for clients. Reporting to the General Manager of Tech and Data, this position is central to Choreograph's mission to transform the value of data for agencies and clients across the marketing ecosystem.
Key responsibilities include leading the design and implementation of complex cloud engineering solutions across various media use cases, from digital analytics and data warehousing to machine learning and marketing mix modeling. The role involves collaborating with Business Intelligence, Marketing Science, architecture, and project management teams to translate business needs into robust technical specifications and solutions. Additionally, the Lead Data Engineer is accountable for championing infrastructure as code, CI/CD best practices, and cloud security standards across all data engineering initiatives in Australia.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing and building Google Cloud Platform solutions, particularly within Marketing Analytics, Data Analytics, and Machine Learning domains. Deep expertise in data warehousing principles and ETL development using tools such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and Cloud Composer is essential. Strong proficiency in Python, including Apache Airflow and Apache Beam, and SQL is required, along with hands-on experience with GCP tools like BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Composer. A thorough understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps best practices, networking, security, and performance optimization within cloud environments is also necessary.
