Junior Software Developer - Observability
Canonical is seeking a Junior Software Developer to join its Observability team, focusing on developing a cloud-native monitoring stack that integrates leading open-source monitoring tools. This stack is designed to be resilient, scalable, and user-friendly, providing deep insights out of the box. In this role, you will collaborate proactively with a globally distributed team to write, test, and document high-quality code for new features. Responsibilities include debugging issues, interacting with the community, reviewing code from other engineers, and representing Canonical and the Charmed Observability Stack at conferences. The position is remote, with opportunities for global travel 2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events.
The ideal candidate is passionate about technology and enjoys working with brilliant people. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field is required. Proficiency in Python is essential, preferably with a track record in open-source projects, along with working knowledge of Go. Experience with two or more of the following is also desired: Ubuntu Linux, container images, Debian packaging, snap, and distributed systems.
