Junior Laboratory Analyst
Eurofins is seeking a Junior Laboratory Analyst to join our water microbiology department. This full-time role involves working 36.25 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern, including Monday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday, with shifts from 06:00-14:00 and 10:00-18:00. During training, hours will be 08:00-16:00 or 09:00-17:00. Flexibility in working hours is required, including covering bank holidays and potential overtime during peak business demands.
The Junior Laboratory Analyst will be responsible for preparing media such as agars for microbiological analysis, conducting sample preparation and analysis of water samples in accordance with company protocols, operating relevant laboratory equipment, and maintaining general laboratory housekeeping to prevent cross-contamination. Accurate data entry into the laboratory database and precise record-keeping associated with the UKAS quality system are essential. Effective communication with all employees and reporting any anomalous results or situations to the Laboratory Supervisor are also key aspects of the role.
Candidates should possess an A-level in a science-related subject, preferably Biology, along with GCSEs in English, Mathematics, and Science or equivalent qualifications. Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, is required. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a busy environment, demonstrate excellent organizational skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately, and have the capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
