Junior Backend Engineer, Discovery

Wolt is seeking a Junior Backend Engineer to join our Discovery team, responsible for enhancing the consumer app's features that help millions of users discover restaurants, grocery stores, and various products. This role offers an opportunity to work on high-impact projects within a dynamic and fast-growing company.

As a Junior Backend Engineer, you will design, build, and operate high-performance backend services primarily using Kotlin and Go. Your responsibilities include owning services end-to-end—from requirements gathering and design to testing, deployment, and monitoring. Collaborating closely with Product Leads, Frontend, Data, and Machine Learning teams, you will develop features like search, ranking, personalization, and data-pipeline integrations.

The ideal candidate has 1-2 years of experience building production backend services, with proficiency in Kotlin and Go. A strong interest in AI-first development is essential, as the team emphasizes agentic coding and AI-assisted development. An ownership mindset, ability to work independently, and a product-focused approach are also key qualities for success in this role.
