Jackup Barge Master

The Jackup Barge Master at BESIX is responsible for operating and maintaining Self-Elevating Platforms on construction sites, ensuring projects are executed safely and efficiently. This role involves leading a crew, making critical operational decisions, and upholding safety and quality standards. The position is initially based in Oman, with an expected relocation to Mozambique.

Key responsibilities include operating the barge during day and night shifts as per project requirements, positioning the vessel, preloading, jacking up the legs to the desired height, and assisting with site operations such as craning, loading, or offloading. The Barge Master will lead, coach, and manage the crew, ensure compliance with local and international marine regulations, coordinate maintenance work, oversee onboard safety, and monitor environmental conditions to safeguard the vessel and crew.

Candidates should possess a degree in navigation or have several years of relevant experience. A Basic Offshore Training Certificate and/or Certificate in Marine Operations for Self-Elevating Platforms is advantageous. Proficiency in DGPS, first aid knowledge, and good English skills are required; knowledge of French or Arabic is a plus. An offshore crane operator qualification and comfort with standard office software are beneficial. Flexibility to work abroad is essential.
