Internal Communications Specialist
The Internal Communications Specialist at McDermott Will & Emery is responsible for producing high-impact, brand-aligned internal content. The position is based in Chicago, Illinois, and is part of the firm's integrated marketing and communications team.
Key responsibilities include writing and producing internal communications such as spotlights, feature stories, and campaign messaging. The specialist will conduct interviews with firm leaders, lawyers, and business professionals to develop compelling, on-brand internal stories. Additionally, the role involves developing internal communications strategies for campaigns and initiatives, ensuring content is tailored to different channels, and managing the firm's weekly internal newsletter.
Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism, communications, or a related field, and at least 4–6 years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, editorial, content, or related roles. Strong writing, editing, and interviewing skills are essential, along with a solid understanding of internal communications and digital content best practices. Experience with intranet platforms (e.g., SharePoint) and content management best practices is required, as well as proficiency with email or marketing automation platforms (e.g., Eloqua).
The compensation for this role ranges from $83,000 to $115,000 annually, with eligibility for performance-based bonuses.
