Black Duck Software, Inc. is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Technical Writer to join our team in Calgary, AB. In this role, you will lead the development of developer-focused documentation for Coverity, our advanced static analysis security testing tool. This position offers the opportunity to influence documentation strategy, enhance user experience, and collaborate with top-tier engineers to deliver impactful content.

As an Intermediate/Senior Technical Writer, you will own the entire documentation lifecycle for Coverity, from planning and writing to publishing and continuous improvement. You will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and UX teams to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable content. Additionally, you will drive best practices for DITA-based documentation, contribute to content architecture and strategy, and advocate for an intuitive, accurate, and customer-focused user experience. Leading and mentoring other writers, guiding small team initiatives, and participating in cross-functional projects will also be key aspects of your role.

The ideal candidate will have over four years of experience as a technical writer, with proficiency in at least one programming language and comfort working in the command line, including familiarity with Bash scripting. Experience with source control systems like Git and GitLab is essential. We value experience with Atlassian JIRA and Confluence, familiarity with Agile methodologies, and the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical users. A keen attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to improve user experience are also important. Familiarity with application security software, experience with API documentation, and proficiency in docs-as-code workflows and tools are highly desirable. Experience working with DITA, including creating ditamaps, tasks, concepts, and reference topics from scratch, using keys, and employing ditaval for conditional processing, is also valued.

The salary range for this position is $74,400 to $93,000 CAD annually.
