Axinn Veltrop & Harkrider LLP is seeking an Innovation Counsel to spearhead the integration of legal technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and generative AI solutions within the firm. This role involves close collaboration with attorneys, firm leadership, IT, practice support, eDiscovery, and operations teams to enhance legal service delivery and streamline internal workflows. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of legal practice experience and a deep understanding of emerging technologies, particularly in the context of litigation.

Key responsibilities include identifying, evaluating, and implementing innovative legal technologies and AI-driven solutions to improve attorney productivity and client service. The Innovation Counsel will contribute to the firm's innovation strategy, conduct stakeholder interviews, gather requirements, and analyze workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement and technology adoption. Facilitating design workshops and collaborative sessions to develop user-centered solutions, monitoring developments in legal technology and AI, and advising attorneys on practical applications of AI within antitrust, intellectual property litigation, and commercial litigation matters are also essential aspects of the role.

Candidates should have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and prior experience practicing law, preferably in antitrust, intellectual property litigation, commercial litigation, or related complex litigation areas. A strong knowledge of legal technology, AI, and generative AI platforms is required, along with the ability to translate technical concepts into practical legal applications. Experience in conducting requirements gathering, process analysis, and solution design sessions with cross-functional stakeholders is essential. Strong presentation and communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership and influencing decision-making, are necessary. The role also demands strong collaboration, relationship management, and change management skills, as well as a demonstrated growth mindset, intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to continuously learn and experiment with emerging technologies.

Compensation for this full-time, exempt position is competitive, with a targeted hiring range of $220,000 to $270,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include generous paid time off, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options, a 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan and Cash Balance Retirement Plan with employer contributions, and a hybrid remote work schedule requiring in-office presence at least three days per week.
