The program is structured into four six-month seats, allowing trainees to rotate through key practice areas such as Global Financial Markets, Corporate, and Litigation & Dispute Resolution. Trainees can express preferences for specific groups, including General Banking, Capital Markets, Public Companies, M&A, Funds, and Litigation & Dispute Resolution. Opportunities for international secondments to locations like London, Perth, and Tokyo are also available.
Throughout the training period, participants receive comprehensive support from partners, lawyers, supervisors, mentors, and the Graduate Recruitment Manager. This collaborative environment ensures high-quality training and supervision, enabling trainees to maximize their development. The program is designed to equip individuals with the skills and experience necessary to become confident business advisers.
Ideal candidates should demonstrate ambition, drive, and commitment, along with strong interpersonal skills and commercial awareness. Applicants must possess a consistently strong academic record and have the ability to speak Mandarin or a Chinese dialect, with proficiency in reading and writing Chinese being preferable. A law or combined degree from a university in Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, or England is required, enabling the commencement of a Hong Kong training contract upon completion of the Post Graduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL). Applications from non-law graduates who have completed the Graduate Diploma in Law (Common Professional Examination) are also welcome.
The training contract offers a competitive first-year trainee salary of HK$54,000 per month and a second-year salary of HK$56,000 per month. Additional benefits include financial assistance for the PCLL Conversion Examinations, funding for PCLL tuition fees, a maintenance allowance of HK$70,000 for the PCLL year, 22 days of annual leave, Mandarin language training, medical and dental insurance schemes, life assurance, a competitive pension scheme, and access to the firm's junk boat.
