Head of Solutions, Power Markets (West)
The Head of Solutions, Power Markets (West) at Energy Exemplar is a senior leadership role responsible for guiding the presales Solutions team across the Western United States and Canada. This position focuses on securing technical wins in markets such as ERCOT, CAISO, SPP, WECC, AESO, and IESO, overseeing the entire sales cycle from initial discovery to technical close and ensuring a seamless transition to the Services team. The role encompasses both new business development and expansion within existing accounts, engaging with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, regulators, developers, traders, and consultancies.
Key responsibilities include leading and developing a team of energy economists, power systems engineers, and modeling specialists, managing technical presales activities across the sales cycle, collaborating with the Regional VP of Sales on territory plans and account strategies, and delivering market-specific demonstrations and workshops. The role also involves scoping and executing proofs of concept and pilots, leading technical responses to RFPs and RFIs, and ensuring a smooth handoff to Services. Additionally, the Head of Solutions is expected to provide deep market expertise across the specified regions and translate regulatory and market changes into actionable use cases and pipeline opportunities.
Ideal candidates should have 10-15+ years of experience in power markets, energy consulting, or utility planning, with at least 5 years in leading technical presales or advisory teams. A proven track record in securing technical wins for enterprise software or analytics sales is essential. Candidates should possess working knowledge of at least three of the specified market designs and planning processes, hands-on experience with production cost, capacity expansion, or resource adequacy modeling, and proficiency in PLEXOS or Aurora. Strong leadership skills, data fluency with tools like Python or SQL, and commercial acumen are also required.
